Our purpose is to raise public awareness, increase knowledge of and support for Indigenous people in Revelstoke.

The Indigenous Friendship Society of Revelstoke was formed to raise public awareness and increase knowledge of Indigenous people in the Revelstoke area present and past. Our aim is to foster and build support for Indigenous people, heritage and culture within our community.

We recognize that the Revelstoke area was historically once a meeting place of several First Nations, including the Sinixt, Secwépemc, Ktunaxa and Syilx First Nations.

We are working towards creating a physical place of friendship for local and neighbouring Indigenous people and supporters, acting in friendship with all the neighbouring First Nations and providing a place of peace and connections.

We are open to all people supportive of Indigenous perspectives.

  • “Reminder: Teach Indigenous brilliance and success as much as you teach Indigenous suffering and trauma.”
